ENVIRONMENT

Where do the stones come from?

Since 1880 Dales of Thirsk has been as one with mother nature and her fascinating geology. This heritage is more relevant today as we concern ourselves with longevity and sustainable sources of materials.

Ecological

Minimal energy is needed for actual manufacture, natural Granite and Marble stone is almost in a ready to use form in the quarry.

What can be more long lasting than stone? - you are investing in Marble from 545 million years ago, and with Granite from over 2,900 million years ago.

Your chosen materials should never need replacing, since they are natural quarried

Granites, Marbles & Slate.

The quarries that supply Dales of Thirsk use mining methods and techniques that support the environment in the following ways:

Minimal energy used in actual manufacture

Less energy is used in quarrying and processing than with other materials

Very little is lost in the complete cycle of quarrying, processing and returning to nature

Water used in processing Granite and Marble is recycled for further use

Waste Granite is recycled into road stones and hardcore and used again
